On November 26, 2024, Yung-Hsiang Lai, President of MIRDC, presented the 2025 Policy Guidelines and Implementation Strategies at MIRDC’s 24th Board of Directors Meeting (7th session). MIRDC aims to be a world-class research and development institution, pioneering metal technology and driving cross-disciplinary industrial innovation. Its strategy focuses on leveraging domestic and international resources and integrating cross-industry innovation, supported by the 3C framework: creating an innovative environment, focusing on core technologies, and strengthening cross-sector collaboration. MIRDC will actively align with five key trust industries, the 2050 Net-Zero Emissions goal, forward-looking infrastructure projects, and six core national industrial strategies, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and industrial advancement. In recent years, MIRDC has received global recognition, winning prestigious awards such as the R&D 100 Awards and the Edison Awards, highlighting its technological leadership and contribution to industrial transformation and upgrading. Moving forward, MIRDC will continue enhancing its core technologies, supporting industries in value creation and transformation, and driving greater industrial progress. |

To align with policy directions and industry needs, MIRDC has restructured the "Industrial Promotion Center" into the " Aerospace Science and Technology Industry Development Department," focusing on military and civil aerospace research, technology development, industry promotion, and cross-sector integration. In line with this restructuring, its subordinate units have been renamed to reflect their adjusted organizational roles: The "Product Development & Prototyping Section" is now the " Aerospace Intelligent Science and Technology R & D Section," while the "Metal Structure Systems Section" has become the " Aerospace Science and Technology Application R & D Section." The "Strategic Planning & Promotion Section" remains unchanged, and the "Defense and Aerospace Industry Development Preparatory Office" has been rebranded as the "Aerospace Science and Technology Industry Promotion Section." |

MIRDC implemented the "Industrial International Linkage Strategy Research Project" under the Industrial Development Administration, MOEA and jointly organized the "Taiwan-Vietnam Industrial Cooperation Forum" with the Chinese National Federation of Industries. The forum focused on three key areas: textiles, smart machinery, and smart applications for smart cities, facilitating the signing of multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between Taiwanese and Vietnamese enterprises to achieve the goal of strategic cooperation. |

The event featured distinguished speakers, including Professor Michael Alexander Fokine from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Dr. Rainer Kling, a laser processing expert from France, and Professor Yasuo Yamane from Hiroshima University (Japan). It supports training in Dynamic Positioning (DP) and Offshore Crane Operation (OCO) and has been certified by the Nautical Institute (NI). MIRDC is now Taiwan’s first organization to provide complete maritime engineering simulator training and certification. |
