With the development of data construction, data transmission, and computing technologies, the application of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence has become a necessity for all businesses. Data science assists industries in making valuable operational decisions from the product end, the customer end, the supply chain partners to marketing and businesses. This is not only true in famous corporations such as Amazon and Facebook but also among primary to tertiary sectors such as smart manufacturing, smart agriculture, smart farming, smart aquaculture, smart home, and smart services. However, most industries in Taiwan lack the initiation in digital transformation. The optimization of prediction, simulation, and decision-making in data science and the utilization, communication, interpretation, and implementation from the industry perspective to create valuable operational decisions have become the greatest challenges for corporate owners and data scientists.
For the promotion of creating added value for all industries, the MIRDC has been serving as the bridge among the industry, the official, and the academia on the collaboration of data science and management since 2021. On March 31, 2022, the MIRDC co-hosted the 2022 Data Science and Management Forum with National Sun Yat-sen University and representatives from various industries. Other than Jang-Hwa Leu, Director-General of the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), Prof. San-Yih Hwang, former Dean of National Sun Yat-sen University College of Management, was also invited to the forum and gave an excellent analysis from the strategic and management perspectives. Furthermore, industrial representatives from Jorjin Technologies Inc., Tsung Hsing Food Machinery, King Point Enterprise, Maker Wisdom, Mommy Happy Health Technologies, MIRDC Intelligent Vehicle Center, IVC, and the Artificial Intelligence Shrimp Cultivation team of National Sun Yat-sen University were also invited to the forum to share their cases of data science application based on the results of the actual data applications or predictions, and cases of industrial application were also gathered to publish the book titled: "Seeing Business Opportunities Through Big Data--Strategies of Digital Transformation".
