MIRDC signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital on March 1st as a part of the MIRDC’s effort to accelerate the development of Taiwan’s smart healthcare industry, and combine the research and development of capabilities of research institute and medical sector. The MOU was signed by Dr. Jen-yi Lin, Chairman of the Board of MIRDC and Mr. Chun-peng Liu, Superintendent of Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital. In the future, both parties will jointly conduct research in the field of smart healthcare and will proactively collaborate with other Taiwanese companies to build an application exchange platform, creating new opportunities for Taiwan’s smart healthcare industry.
Dr. Jen-yi Lin, Chairman of the Board of MIRDC said that MIRDC has dedicated years of effort in the field of healthcare, proactively developing medical devices and providing guidance to the medical device industry. He hoped that innovation research center of Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital will combine the R&D and industrial guidance capabilities of the MIRDC with the expertise of Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital in clinical medicine, and establish an innovation collaboration mechanism for both sides. He further stated that MIRDC will expand exchanges with Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital in the future, and accelerate innovation in smart healthcare by both parties, developing smart healthcare products that meet clinical requirements with high market value.
Smart healthcare has become a major global trend in the healthcare following the aging population worldwide and rapid development in information and communication technology (ICT). The application of advanced technologies, such as ICT, sensors and big data, in the field of healthcare is the key to future development. Except working together in the development of a cloud platform for medical data application and healthcare, both parties can also jointly offer complete hospital administration services, using artificial intelligence to provide the best solution for the aging society and human resource gap in Taiwan.
