MIRDC Intensifies Taiwan-Philippines Collaboration

To help the dental devices industry expand the New Southbound market and create market opportunities, Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) and the Economic Development Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government led several medical devices companies to participate in TAIWAN EXPO 2017 IN THE PHILIPPINES, where they expanded sales channels and are engaged in exchanges. During the event, MIRDC also organized the Night of Kaohsiung and invited companies and academic institutions in the Philippines, including the National Association of Dental Traders, Inc., several dental traders in the Philippines, and deans of dentistry colleges in key universities in the Philippines, such as: Centro Escolar University, University of the East and University of the Philippines. MIRDC hopes to create future cooperation opportunities in the medical devices industry by matching them with medical devices companies of Taiwan.

The Philippines is located near Taiwan. It is the primary gateway and an important economic and trade partner for Taiwan to cooperate with ASEAN and South Asian countries. TAIWAN EXPO 2017 IN THE PHILIPPINES features Taiwan’s quality goods, food products and processing equipment, tourism, agriculture, education, aesthetic medicine, health examinations, green energy, and a local image hall. The large comprehensive exhibition strengthens interactions between the two sides in trade, investment, agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery, aquaculture, small and medium enterprises, and green energy. It also achieves closer cooperation and exchanges between Taiwan and the Philippines with respect to trade, culture and talents.

Furthermore, arrangements were made for the companies from Taiwan to visit the 18th NADTI Trade Exhibit from October 2nd to 4th, 2017. NADTI, the event's organizer, is a non-profit dental traders association in the Philippines with over 50 corporate members. Most of its members are agents, distributors and importers of dental products. The event is expected to attract 5,000-6,000 dentists and will create market opportunities for the exhibitors.
MIRDC assists the transformation of traditional industries in Taiwan towards high-value medical products, and is also dedicated efforts to establishing industrial clusters, building brands, and creating international market opportunities. MIRDC helps companies gain integrated resources from academia, research institutes and medical institutes, and utilizes its advantages in metal materials development and processes to promote the development of Kaohsiung's medical devices industry. In the medical devices industry in Kaohsiung, the dental product line is currently the most complete and most dental product companies have obtained FDA, CE and TFDA product certifications. Participation in the overseas exhibition, matching with international companies, and visits will help medical products of Taiwan enter the international market, allowing them to grab the first chance in expanding the New Southbound dental devices market.
