With the rapid development of digital denture and digital implant technologies in the last decade, the public have been increasing their attention and awareness of dental care and dental medicine in recent years. Besides, the technologies bring significant changes to traditional dental industry, which relied heavily on dentists’ experiences and dental technicians’ skills in the past. That is to say, the digital impression technology in Taiwan has gained some progresses due to the innovative breakthroughs of dental CAD/CAM (customized computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing. Hence, Metal Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) worked with Taiwan Dental Student Association (TDSA) to co-organize the “Smart Dental Industry & Competence Cultivation Workshop” in Kaohsiung Medical University as a part of its effort to help the domestic medical supply industry explore markets. Students from seven major dental colleges in Taiwan and from South Asia countries all joined the Workshop together.


Dr. Chih-Lung Lin, Vice President of MIRDC, stated that well-known dental supply manufacturers in Taiwan, including: ARIX CNC Machines Co. Ltd., Tien Shu Co. Ltd., and Yang Ming Digital Dental Supplies Co. Ltd., were attending the Workshop to promote made-in-Taiwan (MIT) medical supplies. Combined with the Smart Dental Industry Workshop co-held with the TDSA, the Workshop aimed to facilitate the exchanges between domestic medical supply manufacturers and students from 7 top-notch dental colleges in Taiwan, promoting MIT digital impression software to students with the goal of brand marketing, and also to introduce MIT medical supplies to dental teaching hospitals. The Workshop emphasized participation, interaction, hands-on practice, and in-depth discussion of MIT dental supplies among students. In the future, MIRDC will continue its effort to enhance public trust in MIT products by building clinical promotion mechanisms, in order to help domestic manufacturers expand their business in Taiwan and explore international markets.
