MIRDC assists government in mitigating ECFA impacts on industries

As Taiwan’s move to enter ECFA with China marks an imminent liberalization of cross-strait economy and trade that bounds to impact traditional and SME sectors in Taiwan, MOEA has responded with active measures that include a series of projects to be undertaken by MIRDC to mitigate ECFA’s impacts on local industries. With a focus on industrial innovation and promoting Taiwan products through a Made-In-Taiwan logo, these projects feature value-added innovation for the traditional sector, technological support for SMEs and consulting services for the household appliance sector. The value-added innovation project for the traditional sector centers on creating differentiated core competiveness through a platform for value creation and innovation and a R&D cluster, so as to promote industry-specific research alliances, develop high-value products, add value to the industry, and guide the traditional sector towards technological integration.
