Since Taiwan is not a nation of material consumption, R&D of new material and application of high performance material are easily affected by foreign manufacturers and market price to result in not good competitiveness of products. Application of “clad metals” has the multi-function that cannot be achieved by single metal in the past. The research applies precision roll-bonding technology to develop clad metals that the required pressure of binding dissimilar metals through rolling to further facilitate a strong metallurgical bonding of interface. International corporations such as EMS, TMI, NEOMEX, etc. have developed the clad metal technology for long time and mainly focus on the development of new type clad metals. The project is primarily focused on developing the bonding technology of clad metals, such as Al/Cu, Al/steel, Al/stainless steel, Cu/Ag, Cu/stainless steel etc., and the multi-layer bonding technology. Additionally, the new application of clad metals in products is proactively created, such as Cu/Al cooler for CPU, Cu/Al electric conductive terminal board, Ag/Cu or Ag/Cu/Brass electric contacting terminal and clad metal casing. The implementation of project facilitates to promote the domestic clad metals manufacturing industry and their end products applied industries towards high value.
