Despite of financial crisis, the fasteners production value of year 2008 reached a new peak of NT 112 billion dollars. The growth rate is 3% compared to its value of 2007. Export value is NT 99.9 billion dollars with a export ratio of 89%, of which 42% was exported to USA. Fastener manufacturers are mainly small and medium-sized enterprises. There are 1,191 companies and 23,700 employees. 44 % of fastener manufacturers are located in Kaohsiung City and County, and Tainan City and County. Technique development: Material that contains high strength elements including nickel, chromium, molybdenum, boron, etc. is preferable. Molds are being developed towards fast design system and quick die mold system. The production of multi section high precision molding machines with fault diagnosis system is in progress. High anti-erosion surface treatment and chromium-free technology are the main focus for surface treatment. Multi-functional eddy current high speed inspection machine is another priority.
