MIRDC and Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) signed a strategic alliance agreement on 18th of June to develop pure extraction techniques of natural medicine.
Currently both institutes applied supercritical fluid extraction technology in “metabolic syndrome” dietary supplements. MIRDC puts its focus on maximizing the extraction and processing of natural medicine while KMU concentrates on components analysis and detection, efficacy tests and animal experiments of the extraction. By the end of this year it is scheduled to apply for a patent for the result of their research, which can be transferred to biotechnology companies. This alliance makes a base for futher collaboration on Chinese medicine, natural dietary supplements for cancer prevention, cardiovascular disease, or diabetes. Benefited from research results, pharmaceutical companies would be able to produce better dietary supplements and medicine that suit Taiwan people’s physical constitution.
