Laboratory for the Supercritical Fluid Equipment

Supercritical carbon dioxide is recognized as an efficient working fluid for environmental protection. The applications of the supercritical fluids include the nano/micro cleaning, environmental soil remediation, ingredients extracting and nano/micro powder forming, encapsulation etc. We applied the supercritical anti-solvent (SAS) process to develop the supercritical equipment for the manufacturing of nano/micro powder. The particle size ranges from 200nm to 10μm and grain size distribution is over 90%. Currently local industries apply the conventional grinding, freeze drying or thermal spray methods to miniaturized the powder. However, they are limited by the higher operating temperature, the in-homogeneity of the particle size after miniaturization. Additionally the micro/nano powder particles cannot effectively be obtained. Recently, the foreign companies actively develop the SAS process to encapsulate and miniaturize the pharmaceutical powders to improve the targeting prescription and the solubility of the non-aqueous solutions. The laboratory for the supercritical fluid equipment of MIRDC is devoted to the R&D of the supercritical related application equipment, we could provide the installation of laboratory equipment for the industries, academic and research organizations and the proceed the parameters testing, we also provide the technical support and assistance for the scaled up system and launch the only integrated laboratory for the supercritical fluid equipment in Taiwan.
