Under encouragement of Department of Industrial Technology, MOEA and assistance of MIRDC, 20 domestic hand tools manufacturers organize R&D alliance to jointly upgrade the new product value, the alliance will be formally set up in the afternoon of December 29 at Howard Hotel, Taichung.
For the past few years, the hand tools products gradually emphasize the innovation of function and application so that many manufacturers deeply recognize the urgency of R&D. However domestic hand tools manufacturers are classified as small & medium enterprises, they are not able to conduct R&D by themselves due to lean staff. To get rid of this restriction, MIRDC invites 20 domestic representative hand tools manufacturers, including Jun Kaung, Kuang Yuang, King Tony, Luck Brand, Cendai Industrial, Allpro, Easen Hardware, Kuani Professional Tools, Hua Lung Machinery, Sound Han Industrial, Infar Industrial, Proxen Tools, K&W Tools, Chinsing Industries, Gong Maw, Cian Tai, Daiken Tools and so on to jointly organize the first domestic hand tools R&D alliance. Among which Mr. Chin-Fong Hsieh, president of Jun Kaung is the incumbent chairman of Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers’ Association. Under witnesses of Department of Industrial Technology, MOEA and MIRDC, these manufacturers jointly establish the R&D alliance in the afternoon of December 29, 2005.
After the establishment, the participating manufacturers will finance to organize a management committee to maintain the operation of alliance, the committee chairman will be served by chairman of Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers’ Association. In the preliminary stage, 3~5 manufacturers organize a group to submit the project in acquiring the governmental subsidy of Industrial Technology Development Program. Later on the alliance can propose the project to obtain the budget of Lead and New Product Program, while MIRDC assists the project drafting. The current project under drafting is “High Quality Hand Tools R&D Project” with main focus on the upgrading of materials, product design analysis and function, R&D of key manufacturing technology and inspection certification to locate new product value. This project is estimated to apply for Industrial Technology Development Program to Ministry of Economic Affairs in the first quarter of 2006. If everything is smoothly conducted, the preliminary R&D results will be come out in the end of 2006. The results can preferentially be transferred to alliance members through technical authorization, yet they can be transferred to domestic interested manufacturers to upgrade the overall competitive advantage of hand tools industry and get rid of the competition of low-priced products from Mainland China and South East Asia.
