To facilitate the domestic motor industry in smoothly developing high value-added products, MIRDC combines the capabilities of the Electric Motor Technology Research Center, National Cheng Kung University to set up “Motor Design Center” at National Cheng Kung University to provide the industry with the complete solution for product development.
Since the motor is widely applied, including the traditional industry and 3C industry require the motor to serve as an important unit, still many manufacturers indicate that the motors they intend to develop are not included within R&D field of traditional and 3C industries. However the obstacles are occurred in the design of new type motor, components manufacturing, trial production, manufacturing process automation, electrical control and driver.
In realizing the difficulties encountered by industry, MIRDC held “the Concept and Planning Discussion for the Setup of Motor R&D Center” at National Cheng Kung University on November 24, 2005 to invite China Steel Corp., Teco Group, Tatung Company, Sunon Group, Mechanical Industry Research Laboratories, ITRI, Energy & Resources Laboratories, National Cheng Kung University and officials from Department of Industrial Technology, MOEA for joint discussion. During discussion, Dr. Weng-Sing Hwang, president of MIRDC facilitates the industry to obtain the complete assistance, decides the establishment of “Motor Design Center” at National Cheng Kung University and invites Professor Min-Ching Tsai with abundant experiences in motor R&D to be the director of Motor Design Center. Dr. Hwang wishes to combine the experiences of motor design of Professor Tsai and the capabilities of components and manufacturing equipment of MIRDC to offer the domestic industry technical assistance. The motor design center will provide the domestic industry with design technology, components development and manufacturing technology.
