The survey of MIRDC ITIS project finds out that the environmental regulations of Europe, America and Japan strictly stipulate the reduction of waste gas emission and waste and recycling ratio and put into force to reduce the waste gas emission of automobile and strengthen the waste recycling. The aluminum product, equipped with lightweight and excellent recoverability, therefore becomes the best replacement of steel and plastic. In view of this trend, many domestic aluminum products manufacturers are engaged in the production expansion. The continuous attention should be paid on its future development.
The light metal industry has been classified as one of items in the “Challenge 2008-National Development Plan-Industrial Value Heightening”, while aluminum is the major product of light metal industry. Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs established “Development of Light Metal Industry-Five Year Project” in 2004 and entrusted Metal Industries Research and Development Centre (MIRDC) to assist the domestic manufacturers in the R&D of products with high performance and high value-added in the application fields of transportation vehicle, semi-conductors/electronics/biotechnology/daily goods.
Mr. Wen-Hai Liu, industrial analyst of MIRDC indicates though some aluminum processing manufacturers relocate abroad in the consideration of production cost for the last few years, those manufacturers stay in Taiwan have higher value added products and take plant expansion action due to brisk demand, including C.S. Aluminum Corporation expands its rolling plant, Alex Global Technology Inc. conducts the expansion of aluminum extrusion plant, Yuan Feng Ind. Co., Ltd. and Lio Ho Machine Works Ltd. expand their industrial aluminum wheel plants, SuperAlloy Industrial Co., Ltd. and Fullchamp Co., Ltd. newly establish the aluminum wheel forging plant, Yeong Shyh Cheng Aluminum Co., Ltd. newly sets up aluminum extrusion plant, etc. Mr. Liu further points out the car body, power system and chassis that have to adopt the aluminum alloy of temperature, wearing and high fatigue resistance and 3C aluminum alloy with high heat transfer are the potential products to be developed in the future. These products are worthwhile of being developed by manufacturers and the manufacturers should grasp this precious opportunity.
