Along with continuous expansion of coating field, the application and consumption of sputtering target is gradually increased. The related industries, including optical recording media, flat panel display and semi-conductors, require the huge consumption of target. After establishing domestic target manufacturing capabilities two years ago, MIRDC further develops C-Scan inspection system for large size target bonding that can inspect the bonding interface of metal/non-metal target/back light plate by 400 x 600mm area. Additionally scanning speed can reach 500mm/sec maximum with accuracy reaching 0.5mm.

MIRDC thinks that domestic disc, IC and LCD industries take the important positions internationally. Since target market is rapidly expanded, Taiwan will eventually become the largest consumption area of worldwide thin film sputtering target, domestic consumption of sputtering target for disc, TFT-LCD and color filter exceeds NT$5 billion with huge business opportunities. In the future, the target will be developed into large size so that R&D of bonding technology will be focused on prevention of stress and distortion so that inspection software & hardware for bonding quality will be more humanistic and high speed to effectively reduce the production cost
