MIRDC eliminates new export barrier for sanitary ware industry

California Assembly Bill 1953 (AB1953) (also referred as California Lead Plumbing Law) will go into effect on January 1, 2010. The Bill implementation will affect supplier and customer that sell the facets and plumbing fittings in California.
When water fixtures and fittings that are intended to convey drinking water, they must be mandated by AB1953 and conform to lead content standard required by the Bill.
AB1953 requires a weighted average lead content of the wetted surface area of the pipes, fittings, and fixtures of not more than 0.25%, to be determined pursuant to a prescribed formula.
To assist Taiwan sanitary ware makers to eliminate new export barrier when they export their products to USA, MIRDC plumbing fitting laboratory increases testing capabilities of AB 1953 and has obtained the accreditation of (International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). MIRDC is able to assist sanitary ware makers to apply to IAPMO for the related accreditation of California Lead Plumbing Law(AB 1953) before exportation to USA. Please contact Mr. Chih-Hung Yao, engineer of MIRDC, at 004-23502169 ext. 328 for details.
