MIRDC sets up “Taiwan Micro-Fabrication Alliance” to help domestic industries grasp business opportunities of micro components in the future

To facilitate the establishment of micro-fabrication technology that is still in the introduction stage, MIRDC formally sets up “Taiwan Micro-Fabrication Alliance” on June 30, 2005 to invite the manufacturers that intend to join this field in sharing the advanced technology of high value added.
3C and bio-medical products gradually become miniaturized, dimension of many tiny products is downsized to 1/10 or 1/100 of general products. As a result, aspects of material, equipment, manufacturing process, mold & die and inspection are extremely different from those of general products. Additionally micro-fabrication technology is still in the introduction stage for advanced countries, there is no institute that is willing to engage in technology transfer.
Under such circumstances, MIRDC is much willing to assist the industry in breaking through the obstacle and is engaged in research of micro-fabrication technology since 2003 under support of Ministry of Economic Affairs. In 2005, MIRDC injects nearly NT$100 million to conduct R&D of micro metal forming and micro molding and to set up common lab of plastic & metal micro forming with hope of assisting domestic manufacturers to develop miniaturized products.
Mr. Kun-Min Huang, Secretary General of Alliance indicates that the Alliance welcomes individuals or companies that are interested in this field to join as members. The Alliance will provide the information of domestic & foreign industries, market and technology, meanwhile it will assist the members to solve the technical problems of micro-fabrication, conduct the cultivation & training of micro-fabrication talents and apply for subsidizing resources from government with hope of establishing complete system of market, design, manufacturing and inspection.
