MIRDC Leads Manufacturers to Create New Business Opportunities

The Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) organized the 2021 Achievement Presentation of the Medical Device Industry Counseling and Promotion Program at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1 on December 3, 2021 in order to improve the competitiveness of the medical device industry in Taiwan. The MIRDC implements the Medical Device Industry Counseling and Promotion Program of the Industrial Development Bureau and successfully promotes the domestic medical device industry. Through technological improvement, enhancement in laws and regulations, cross-discipline talent cultivation and international promotion, the MIRDC has obtained outstanding results in assisting the domestic manufacturers in product upgrade and, in turn, increasing the added value of the medical device products of Taiwan and successfully promoting the domestic medical device industry.

The Achievement Presentation showcased 8 manufacturers under the guidance of the Medical Device Industry Counseling and Promotion Program and displayed 8 domestic medical device products, namely the absorbable suture device developed by EPOCH Energy Technology, the electric wheelchair of Eurogreen International that can cross over barriers, the dynamic spinal stabilization device developed by Love U Company Ltd., the new endoscope cannula for the observation of bile duct developed by Qin Chuang Precision Technology, the shape memory alloy nail correction system developed by Nitinol Innovative Technology, the bone compact formation device developed by Taiwan Implant Technology Company, the fast-healing patch of ACTife, and the radio frequency beauty device with frequency stabilization module of Mei Lin Energy Technology. The presentation expanded the visibility of the products, established trust among the public towards domestic products and allowed the capabilities of the Taiwanese medical device to be more widely seen.

Chih-Lung Lin, vice president of the MIRDC stated that COVID-19 changed our daily life around the world as well as the medical care system and operational mode. In response to the change, Taiwan proactively invested in the R&D of the digital transformation of the medical device industry and in smart medicine. Fortunately, the medical device industry chain in Taiwan is rather complete. Along with the solid R&D design and machinery manufacture foundation, the prosperous development of the ICT industry and the clinical needs of the major healthcare systems, capabilities can be integrated across industry, government, academia, research and medicine to create more new business opportunities. The Presentation demonstrated the governmental efforts in guiding the medical device industry via keynote speeches and achievement presentation.
