MIRDC held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of "New World" of the library on November 16, 2021. The “New World” includes Minecraft Conference Room, Inspiration Reading Area 1, Release Ideation Space, Daylight Reading Area 2, and Coworking Discussion Room which were named after MIRDC. With the facilities of large-sized electronic whiteboards the “New World” provides a more comfortable, more convenient area for the staff to spend time together. There was a series of Podcast lecturing also held by the library which has invited different notables from their own professional fields to deliver speeches, as well as encouraging MIRDC’s staff to make their own Podcast channel for expanding more diversified soft power. Also, to celebrate the slowing growth of the pandemic and the announcement of zero new local case of COVID-19, the MIRDC library held the fair of “Guidebooks of Traveling” to encourage the staff to enjoy their traveling while working during the pandemic. reduce anxiety through reading, and improve the spiritual level, and work together optimistically and actively to fight the pandemic. The MIRDC library has collected a lot of resources related to science and technology, manufacturing and management technology and other related professional fields. After years of accumulation, it has long established the characteristics of a metal processing professional library for serving the staff as well as providing the southern industries a channel for data search. As a scientific and technological R&D institute, the library, therefore, not only focuses its profession but also has a deep knowledge base and a rich cultural core. To provide more exquisite and caring services, the library has undergone a spatial transformation to present a stunning new style, allowing MIRDC’s staff to appreciate the new space. Meanwhile, to revitalize the space in the library, the original periodical binding area has been refurbished to increase the utilization rate of the library and make the overall environment more pleasant.

Chiu-Feng Lin, the president of MIRDC has pointed out that being a R&D institution for technology development and application, MIRDC has demonstrated its all-round excellent strength through the winning of many awards in various competitions nationally and internationally in recent years.
