MIRDC's R&D achievements continue to be awarded, winning the 2020 Edison Awards (US) with its Smart Manufacturing Technology for the Fastener Industry and Bionic Intelligent AGV Fleet System. MIRDC's design aesthetics are not outdone either. The Real-time Integrated Restoration System and Disposable Clip Applier of Controlling the Degradation Rate technology of Medical Magnesium Alloys won the iF Design Award (Germany) and Red Dot Design Award (Germany) respectively. MIRDC combined core technology with technological aesthetics to glorify Taiwan through innovation and strength, and create new economic value
The 2020 iF Design Award attracted a total of 7,298 design entries from 56 countries. Among them, MIRDC stood out with the Real-time Integrated Restoration System won the product design award, demonstrating the soft power of innovative research and development! By fully integrating intraoral scanning, wearable glasses, laser milling, and lithium disilicate, the solution shortens the traditional process from more than seven days to 4-5 hours. Processing and restoration are completed in less than a day in the clinic, offering a one-stop digital dental service and greatly improving the efficiency of prosthesis treatment.
Moreover, the Red Dot Design Award (Germany), which has a history of more than 60 years, is ranked as one of the four international design awards along with iF (Germany), IDEA (US), and G-MARK (Japan). The Disposable Clip Applier of Controlling the Degradation Rate technology of Medical Magnesium Alloys developed by MIRDC is the world's first absorbable, biodegradable magnesium alloy hemostatic clip. MIRDC approached the development of the clip from alloy design, processing technology, and surface treatment. The clip does not need to be removed after surgery. The material gradually degrades, which alleviates secondary damage. It is better than stainless steel and titanium alloy clips, since metal objects in the body could interfere with MRIs and other examinations. This reduces concerns during post-operative follow-ups. It is not only easy and fast to operate, but also beneficial to doctors' clinical use.
Dr. Chiu-Feng Lin, President of MIRDC, said that MIRDC will integrate technology with aesthetic design, strengthen the interface integration of human factors and ergonomics, break through the technical limitations and bottlenecks, and see the future through design. In the future, MIRDC will continue to develop product designs that cater to people's livelihood or industry and create a new style of application of R&D results with domestically-made, innovative technologies.
