MIRDC's R&D achievements have been recognized internationally. "Smart manufacturing technology for the fastener industry (SMTFI)" and "Bionic Intelligent AGV Fleet System (BI-AGV)" have recently been awarded by Edison Awards (which is also well known as "Innovation Oscar") Silver and Bronze prize, together with other internationally renowned companies won the honor. In recent years, MIRDC has successively launched "Optic 3D Foot Arch and Pressure Measurement Device" and " Intelligent 3D Visual Automation for Shoes Roughing and Cementing Equipment" won the Edison Awards, highlighting the solid foundation of MIRDC’s technology and innovation, in addition to shine on the international stage, especially to accelerate the introduction of enterprise activation and utilization, and proactively explore new market opportunities for the Taiwan industry.
In terms of "Smart manufacturing technology for the fastener industry (SMTFI)", such a design responds to market demands and successfully establishes a systemic smart manufacturing solution for the fastener industry, not only turning the traditional production form into a highly customized, intelligent and service-oriented business model, but also greatly improving the efficiency of product development trial production and adjustment. It also spans the application of metal stamping, forging, die casting and other fields to help enhance the development of the domestic manufacturing industry into an international single-line manufacturing capability. In addition, "Bionic Intelligent AGV Fleet System (BI-AGV)" imitates ant transport, with the concept of collaborative cooperation, through modularization, real-time simultaneous control of several AGVs, and the flexible configuration of vehicles for different object sizes and weights. The technical characteristics of wireless intelligence, flexible use, and agile mobility have also broken through the limitations of the current industry's mainstream magnetic rail or vehicle-based transport mode, allowing more people to see MIRDC’s R&D capabilities.
Dr. Chiu-Feng Lin, the President of MIRDC stated that as a R&D institute, MIRDC will continue to re-enhance R&D and innovation capabilities to support the sustainable development of Taiwan ’s industries, link core technologies, integrate equipment systems, cross-discipline cooperation with different industries, and promote the demonstration platform. Promoting the demonstration platform field to drive the transformation and upgrading of existing traditional industry and enhance the added value of the industry. Especially in assisting SMEs to proactively introduce digitalization, MIRDC combines AI, big data, cloud and other technologies to help SMEs develop smart applications, inject more innovative kinetic capability into the industry, accelerate the optimization of traditional industrial structure, and thus re-enhance the overall competitiveness of the industry.
