To meet the needs of weather testing for windows and doors in the southern Taiwan, the MIRDC and the Association for Kaohsiung Association of Aluminum Doors and Windows Management formed a strategic alliance to establish a doors and windows weather testing laboratory to provide product inspection services for the industry and offer more security to consumers. On November 25, 2019, Dr. Chiu-Feng Lin, President of the MIRDC, and Mr. Tian-Bao Jian, President of the Association for Kaohsiung Association of Aluminum Doors and Windows Management, signed a memorandum of cooperation and held the unveiling ceremony of the doors and windows weather testing laboratory. It is expected to develop common technologies in the industrial chain and lead Taiwan's aluminum door, window, and curtain wall industry to a new peak.
Dr. Chiu-Feng Lin, President of the MIRDC, indicated that Kaohsiung is not only a main metal materials city, but also has gradually developed into an important market and product supply center. The domestic market for doors, windows, and curtain walls has reached NT$100 billion a year. The doors and windows weather testing laboratory has already obtained TAF accreditation and is a third-party impartial unit operating in the southern Taiwan to assist in testing the performance, wind pressure resistance, air tightness, and water tightness of doors and windows. It can serve the members of the association as well as the companies in the southern Taiwan. In the future, it will not be necessary to send inspected items from the south to the north for testing; this will effectively shorten the testing time and reduce costs. The industry will move towards innovation and high value to enhance competitiveness and create the best construction quality.
Mr. Tian-Bao Jian, the Founding President of the association, pointed out when the association was founded, there were only about 30 members in Kaohsiung, Pingtung and Tainan. Now, the association has been established for more than a year, and the number of members has doubled to more than 70; the first-tier manufacturers of aluminum windows and doors in southern Taiwan are all members of the association. The rapid urban construction in Kaohsiung City drives the high demand for the aluminum door, window, and curtain wall industry. Curtain wall manufacturing, for example, was mainly in Taoyuan, but has now gradually moved south, and many new factories have been set up and many have been expanded. To shape the conditions for the sustainable development of the industry and overcome the dilemma of domestic talent shortage, the association will closely combine with the MIRDC in the future and is committed to cultivating the talents and improving product inspection technology.
