Taiwan Dental Association (TwDA) organized a press conference on the “Publication of the yearbook of Taiwan Dental Medical Devices” at Taipei International Convention Center in the morning of November 3rd, issuing Taiwan’s first yearbook of domestic dental medical devices. The Metal Industries Research and Development Centre (MIRDC) cooperated with TwDA to help collect information on domestic manufacturers to analyze and develop domestic and foreign markets, and a total number of 212 Taiwan’s dental industry-associated data were collected. It is hoped that all sectors can understand Taiwan’s high-quality products, so that the ratio of using domestic products by local physicians can be effectively increased, thereby launching domestic medical devices onto international stage through this yearbook.
In order to allow readers to use this yearbook more systematically, products are specifically classified according to their properties, including dental prostheses, operative dentistry, endodontics devices, dental anesthesia and oral surgery devices, dental jaw correction devices and equipment, dental implants (artificial tooth root), and dental equipment. In order to make it more comprehensive, oral healthcare devices, children’s dentistry, NHI declaration and medical management software are included simultaneously, connecting the surrounding industrial chains to maximize the benefits.
Taiwan has strong medical soft power and medical technology, which has a considerable reputation internationally, ranks third globally and top in Asia. The high quality of medical service also attracts a large number of foreign medical professionals to visit Taiwan to exchange and to learn from each other. However, good medical service quality also requires high quality hardware (the dental medical devices) to complement it, which can maximize the benefits together. From the past to the present, MIRDC has spared no effort to promote the development of domestic medical device industry, including product research and development, technical cooperation and market expansion. It is expected to drive growth in the domestic market of dental medical devices.
