The MIRDC joins hands with minimally invasive medical device makers Visits the EAES in Spain

The 27th EAES was held in Seville, Spain from June 12th to 15th, 2019. Each year, more than 1,200 physicians/makers from 80 different countries participate in the world's most popular, grand surgery event. The global minimally invasive medical devices market is divided into the following five categories: surgical devices, imaging equipment, electronic surgical devices, endoscope devices, and surgical robots. The MarketsandMarkets estimates that the market will reach US$18.14 billion in 2021, with a compound annual growth rate of 10.2%. With the high growth of the minimally invasive surgery industry and the high degree of integration of minimally invasive medical devices, the potential of Taiwan's medical devices manufacturers who started from OEM and plays an important supply chain in the global manufacturing industry is endless.

The Industrial Development Bureau, MOEA commissioned the MIRDC to implement the Competitive and Niche Medical Devices Integration Project - Global Promotion of Competitive and Niche Medical Devices Industry. The R&D team is led by Dr. Chih-Lung Lin, vice president of MIRDC, and the eight selected domestic minimally invasive medical device makers, including Lagis, Hiwin, MedicalTek, Shang-Yi, UNIK, Amed, CUUMED, and Tai-Ke. And, for the first time, MIRDC collaborates with Mr. I-Shu Chen, the Chairman of the Taiwan Association for Endoscopic Surgery (TAES), to drive the minimally invasive devices industry through Taiwan’s clinical strength, match domestic minimally invasive medical devices manufacturers, and promote the reviews of domestically produced medical devices by Taiwanese physicians at the annual EAES via oral presentations and posters to strengthen the trust for clinical word-of-mouth marketing. During the annual meeting, an International Marketing Presentation was held to jointly promote overseas to help companies obtain overseas orders and enhance the image of Taiwan's medical devices globally.

Dr. Chiu-Feng Lin, President of the MIRDC, indicated that MIRDC has entered the eleventh year in the medical device market and has seen the medical device industry go from dental implant manufacturing, surgical devices, preoperative planning, and surgical navigation to gradually entering smart digital dental care. MIRDC has always been the best partner for the technological transformation and upgrading of domestic manufacturers. In the future, through faster commercialization via the joining of industries, the technical capabilities of Taiwan's medical device industry will demonstrate and promote Taiwan's medical device industry to the international market. MIRDC will match foreign makers with domestic companies to expand domestic technology to overseas markets and enhance the competitiveness of Taiwan's minimally invasive medical device industry.
