MIRDC and GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology Inc. jointly lead domestic smart AGV/UAS capabilities

On the date of June 4th, 2019, MIRDC and GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology Inc. signed MOU at the Innovation Value-added Center of Traditional Industry, MOEA. In the future, the two parties will combine the technical capabilities of MIRDC’s unmanned AGV, automatic aircraft system, and unmanned autonomous for logistic systems as well as GEOSAT’s vertical integration and value-added service capabilities in the upstream, midstream and downstream of R&D, production, operation and data analysis to carry out the key value-added application services & cooperation projects of R&D smart unmanned vehicle value-added application and artificial intelligence carrying system, and dispatch management platform. Together, the two parties are positive in leading Taiwan's smart unmanned industry to the world stage.

Dr. Chiu-feng Lin, the president of Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC), stated that MIRDC has played the key role of a long-term transformation for the domestic industry and the promotion of Taiwan's next-generation industry in assisting the government to implement industrial upgrading. We specialize in key technology areas for vehicle system control and drone software development and the system integration. MIRDC, Taiwan Motor Industry Association (TMIA), and Taiwan UAS Application Development Association (TWUAS) together signed the letter of intent of “Innovative R&D Cooperation for UAV Motors”, combining industry, academic and R&D capabilities to jointly provide key system technology for Taiwan's UAV application industry. Also the cooperation with international organizations including Japan UAS Industrial Development Association (JIDA) and US XOAR, MIRDC provides the assistance in the integration of domestic and foreign technologies.

Mr. Cheng-Fang Lo, the Chairman of GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology Inc., stated that he started the entrepreneurship of the company with 3S (GPS, GIS geographic information system, RS telemetry) technology of professional geospatial information technology. In recent years, it has gradually developed its own vehicle platform and expanded to the development and manufacture of unmanned aircraft, including unmanned flight system technology group, space information technology group, urban development technology group, land resource business group, aerial remote sensing detection, mapping technology and so on. In combination with MIRDC, it is not only the vision of the international trends in automated guided vehicle (AGV), but also the transformation and upgrading of Taiwan's industry and implement the "5+2 Industrial Innovation Plan". To join the two parties together will lead the Taiwan smart AGV and unmanned aircraft system (UAS) industry, creating a new win-win opportunity.

In the future, the cooperation between the two parties will combine the experiences of the artificial intelligence technology system capabilities and related implementation projects to jointly develop the AGV payload system for industrial applications such as national defense, manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, transportation, medical care, etc., and promote the multifunctional use of smart AGV. For the intelligent UAS, we will adopt a strategic alliance model to continue to develop long-endurance, heavy-duty and multi-functional flight vehicles in order to expand the scope of application, increase and strengthen Taiwan's uniqueness and competitiveness in the global market. In addition, the two parties join the Unmanned Autonomous System for Logistic Systems to cooperate with the implementation of the National Unmanned Vehicle Technology Innovative Experimentation Act to jointly develop the domestic and international smart logistics market. In the future, we will continue to uphold the highest principle of mutual benefit, and strive to increase the competitiveness of the products.
