On the 22nd of August (Thursday) Metal Industries Research and Development Centre (MIRDC) held the”2019 Innovative Value-Added Seminar for Fabricated Metal Products” at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1 (TaiNEX 1) to assist traditional industries in responding to the global economic situation and accelerating transformation. We have invited Taiwan and Japan related industrial experts to fully introduce the precision machining, rapid prototyping and high-value casting development technologies of various metal components, which will definitely benefit all the participants a lot.
With an annual output value of more than NT$1.8 trillion, accounting for 10.1% of the manufacturing industry, fabricated metal products are important traditional industries in Taiwan. In recent years, Taiwan has faced competitive pressures from advanced countries, China and South Korea which makes the economic situation is increasingly difficult. In view of this, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has commissioned MIRDC to implement the “Reform Traditional Industry-Innovation-Value Added Development Project”. Dr. Chiu-Feng Lin, the president of MIRDC stated that Innovation Value-added Center of Traditional Industry, MOEA which is based in Kaohsiung mainly proactively use the service functions such as to add value to materials, to add value to process, to add value to products, to add value to talents cultivation, and assist in the upgrading of traditional industrial technology through prototyping, tryout and smart manufacturing. In the future we will continually combine relevant research and development, demonstration and promotion to enhance the competitiveness of traditional industries.
The seminar was first introduced by the director of MIRDC, Mr. Ying-Chieh Lin’s "Innovative Prototyping Platform", followed by the domestic experts Mr. Yu-Kuei Du of Hanretec Enterprise CO., LTD and Mr. Da-Lu Chou of Darcam Tech share "Five-axis processing applications and case sharing" and "CAE analysis in metal additive manufacturing applications". Also Mr. Yin Chuang, the Chief and Mr. Chin-Hsing Kang, engineer of MIRDC introduced "Micro-machining technology and equipment development" and "Austempered ductile iron (ADI) technology for thick wall". The finale specially invited Mr. Tsuen-Chih Chu, the deputy general manager of Japan SODICK company to share the "Introduction to Metal 3D Printing Technology and Electron Beam Polishing". These advanced technology contents will lead the future industry trend and deserve the sneak peek of the industry.
The theme of seminar is in line with the development needs of traditional industries. The invited lecturers are of Taiwan and Japan experts with great experiences. We hope that through this exchange of activities, more industrial interaction can be enhanced and the latest technologies can be applied to the industry to assist the upgrading of traditional industries.
