Biomedical industry has been developed in Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) for 10 years. Entrusted by STSP, STSP and MIRDC jointly built “iBIOMED FLAGSHIP HALL,” to hold a grand opening in the Kaohsiung Science Park (KSP) of STSP on December 17. The hall aims to show the cluster’s latest achievements, to help manufacturers promote products, and to integrate the hardware and software. The theme area of the hall showcases the latest technology on the market by focusing on smart biomedicine and demonstrating the R&D achievements of NCKU’s MDIC and VGHKS over the years. The representatives from industry, official, academic and research sectors were invited to this great event: Mr. Jian-lang Wang, researcher of Board of Science and Technology, Executive Yuan, Mr. Zhen-gang Su, Deputy Director-General of STSP Bureau, Ms. Li-ru Luo, Senior Technical Specialist of the Department of Mental and Oral Health, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and guests from NCKU, VGHKS, Taiwan Dental Association (TDA), and Association for Dental Sciences of the Republic of China (ADS-ROC).
The flagship hall had been planned since last October. Different from the previous
“Showroom of medical devices,” which displayed the devices in a static demonstration, the latest displaying areas are more dynamic and diversified. Exhibition areas such as “History,” “Interactive Projection,” “Biomedical Theme,” and “Business Meeting” are added to the hall. These new areas not only make the hall more interactive but also offer more business opportunities by holding small exhibitions, networking, and business matchmaking. In addition to the themed area, permanent exhibitions are “In Vitro Diagnostic Device (IVD)”, “Dentistry”, “Orthopedics”, “Aesthetic Medicine,” and other areas displaying high-tech medical devices. The subjects of the hall are all-inclusive, and the strength of the domestic manufacturers is fully exhibited.
Dr. Chih-lung Lin, vice president of MIRDC, said that with the support from STSP Bureau, MIRDC has been assisting the development of biomedical industry in STSP for years, and this traditional industry was gradually upgrading to the smart biomedical industry. Representatives of TMU and NCKU with visiting groups from India, Malaysia, Japan, Myanmar, the Philippines, etc. visited the hall during the trial run, and we received a lot of compliments. After the opening ceremony, it is expected that the domestic biomedical products could be introduced to the world through this platform. With three advantages, the world-class medical technology (NCKU, KMUH, VGHKS, and EDAH), a comprehensive supply chain of ICT technology industry, and active manufacturers of biotech and pharmaceutical, STSP will work with academic, research and medical institutes in the future to hold more exhibitions with different subjects, such as AI, smart medicine, regenerative medicine, and minimally invasive surgery. We will show Taiwan’s strength in medical science and technology to the world. All partners who are interested are welcomed to make an appointment to visit the hall.
