MIRDC Partners with Taiwan Medical Device Manufacturers Ventures to the International Dental Show

The 2019 International Dental Show (IDS) was held on March 12th in Cologne, Germany. With the support of the Medical Device Industry Counseling and Promotion Program of Industrial Development Bureau, MOEA, Dr. Chih-Lung Lin, Vice President of the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC), led 15 Taiwan dental medical device manufacturers to the show, in the form of a National Pavilion, to promote Taiwan's dental industry to the international market and match foreign companies with Taiwan makers to promote business opportunities and enhance the image of Taiwan's international dental products, as well as competitiveness.

Dr. Chih-Lung Lin said that IDS Cologne 2019 is an iconic global exhibition. This time, MIRDC invited Taiwan makers, including Da Rong, Sunmax, Enlighten Materials, Dentaltw, Inteware, Rolence, Tian Shwu, Hann Ru, ACRO Biomedical, Jin Da, Neng Zi, Alliance Global, Huang Liang, Bo Mei, and Quen Lin, to the show, and helped Taiwan makers obtain orders. This year, with dental clinicians and through the experiential marketing matchmaking method, the trust of professional physicians in Taiwan's dental products was enhanced. In addition, during the exhibition, MIRDC cooperated with the Kaohsiung City Government to hold Taiwan Kaohsiung Night, inviting the participation of local European distributors and Taiwan makers to help foreign companies learn about Taiwan dental products through dinner parties.

The MIRDC's technical research and development results in the dental field include the development of a rapid image-taking and scanning system and a laser-based real-time processing system for clinics, a zirconia and glass ceramic dental filling treatment within 1 day, and a camera-type oral scanning system and 3D dental laser engraving equipment. All of these results were made debut at the show. The digitalization of dentistry is an important development trend in the dental industry. In 2018, MIRDC also invited Taiwan medical device makers to participate in the 2018 International Dental Exhibition in Singapore, Medicall Chennai 2018 in Chennai, India, and the 2018 MEDICA in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Dr. Chiu-feng Lin, President of MIRDC, indicated that the Taiwan fastener industry used to sell screws cheaply by weight; the process of upgrading to high-value dental implant through industrial transformation is quite long. In the twinkling of an eye, MIRDC has been in the medical device industry for more than 10 years. Watching the medical device industry go from dental implant manufacturing, surgical instruments, preoperative planning, and surgical navigation, to gradually entering smart and digital dental care, MIRDC hopes to lead the medical device industry in its continual cultivation and help the industry in upgrading technology. MIRDC also hopes to lead Taiwan's medical device-related makers in seeking business opportunities around the world and through business opportunity matchmaking, present Taiwan’s technical capability in the medical device industry, as well as promote exchanges between Taiwan and foreign companies to expand Taiwan technology to overseas markets and enhance market efficiency through integrated marketing.
