Norwegian Off-shore Wind Power Related Manufacturers Came to Taiwan for More Business Opportunities

In order to promote the localization of Taiwan off-shore wind turbine, on the date of 28th March 2019, MIRDC and Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP) together held the Taiwan-Norway Off-Shore Wind Turbine Installation, Operation and Maintenance Industry Technology Seminar and Networking Meeting, mainly focused on the installation, operation and maintenance of wind turbines. There were various relevant manufacturers in Norway invited to Taiwan to share their years of experiences and technologies in order to assist Taiwan makers to grasp the international development trend, and hope that Taiwan and Norway would be engaged in cooperation.

Dr. Chiu-Feng Lin, the President of MIRDC, pointed out that the off-shore wind turbine industry in Taiwan is now in initial stage, it is important for Taiwan to develop offshore wind power through the learning from the well-experienced foreign countries to accelerate the development of Taiwan offshore wind power capabilities. During the seminar, Mr. Tsung-Wen Huang, the Chief of Metal Material Equipment Section of MIRDC introduced the Offshore Wind Industry Promotion Policy of Taiwan, and Mr. Jon Dugstad, the Director of Solar& Wind Energy of Norwegian Energy Partners presented an introduction of Norwegian Offshore Wind Industry, as well as encouraged more makers of both parties should cooperate in the actual installation, operation, and maintenance of off-shore wind turbine.

In the seminar, Solar& Wind Energy of Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP) and Taiwan Wind Industry Association (TWIA) signed an MOU to announce that they would work together to develop the investment and related technologies of the two countries. Mr. Tsung-Wen Huang, also known as the Secretary-General of TWIA indicated that the signing of the MOU not only strengthened the collaboration between Taiwan makers and Norwegian makers, but also benefited the development of Taiwan’s offshore wind turbine industry, while ensuring the localization of installation, operation, and maintenance for offshore wind turbine in the future.

To assist the Taiwan makers to further realize the technologies of installation, operation, and maintenance of offshore wind turbine, the advanced technologies included underwater foundation inspection & maintenance, monitoring systems, wind turbine safety equipment, cable protection, professional coating and marine gangways which were also presented in the seminar. More business networking were encouraged after the seminar, the organization has actively promoted the collaboration of Taiwan makers not only integrating the Norwegian industrial technology and the Taiwanese industry’s local capability, but also establishing the offshore wind turbine installation, operation performance, and building the competitiveness of the ASIA-Pacific offshore wind power market in the future.
