Medicall Chennai 2018 was held from July 27 to 29 at Chennai, India. Being one of most renowned exhibitions of the health-care industry in South and Central Asia, Medicall takes place every year, alternately in two major Indian cities, Chennai and New Delhi. It is the perfect opportunity for international businesses to set foot in the South Asian market. In Medicall, Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC), leading a team of medical device manufacturers from Taiwan, adopted an overall marketing approach in the Taiwan Pavilion so as to improve the effectiveness of the exhibition. The pavilion presented Taiwan’s vitality in developing medical device and technologies, accelerated the exchange between Taiwan and Indian medical device manufacturers, as well as assisted the former in entering the Indian market.

In recent years, MIRDC has been active in bringing Taiwan manufacturers as a team which, by participating in various international exhibitions, showcases the highlights of Taiwan’s medical device industry. With the joint effort of the government and the industry, MIRDC managed to integrate Taiwan medical device manufacturers to form a marketing alliance. Through the model of cooperative marketing, the alliance is looking to jointly expand into international markets. It has been 11 years since MIRDC first engaged itself in the medical device market. Aiming at Taiwan’s advantage in metal material development and manufacturing process, MIRDC helps upgrade and transform the Taiwan traditional industry, as well as improve the production capacity of high value-added products. In addition, MIRDC helps with the establishment of industrial cluster, the development of self-owned brands and participating in international exhibitions to broaden overseas business opportunities.

MIRDC scaled up the exhibition this year, enhancing its effectiveness in the form of a “Medical Device and Technology Industry Strategic Alliance”. Also, through the exhibition, MIRDC demonstrated Taiwan’s devotion to the international markets for medical device. Taiwan manufacturers joined the exhibition, including Apex Biotechnology, BenQ Medical Technology, BenQ Images, Sunmax Biotechnology, Makida, Besmed Health Business, ASIAWIRE, Asiatic Fiber, Fortune Medical Instrument, Sinpro Electronics, EIKON Healthcare Device, GENTRY Way, JosonCare, etc., and the technology highlights covered a number of medical device fields, such as surgical instruments, surgical imaging devices, medical assistive devices, respiratory therapy devices, blood glucose/pressure monitors, collagen for health-care purposes, medical pipe consumables, medical fabrics, and medical power supplies. MIRDC is confident as well as capable of leading the medical device cluster and the relevant industries to enter international markets, in hopes of creating the best opportunity for Taiwan medical device industry to march towards a high-value future.
