As the global manufacturing sector advances toward digitalization and intelligence, cloud linkage and smart manufacturing will tremendously change the current manufacturing mode. Introducing digital design analysis such as the CAE technology has thus become an important development project for advanced manufacturing. MIRDC has been following the trend, and formed a strategic alliance with Cadmen, Hyperinfo Corporation, Elite Crown Software & Consulting Co., Ltd., Altair, MSC Company, Flotrend Corporation and Taiwan Forging Association by signing a partnership agreement with the concerned parties on October 17, 2016. Dr. Chiu-Feng Lin, the President of MIRDC, and representatives from the major software companies formally formed the alliance, and the participated parties will work under the strategic alliance and further promote a “value-added platform for CAE cloud-based services”, so as to assist Taiwanese makers to improve the traditional model of R&D and manufacturing, as well as moving toward the trend of cloud-based digital development. As a result, CAE simulation analysis will be introduced in the R&D stage, in order to construct a software-sharing environment for advancing cloud-based services for CAE simulation technology, which will in turn help the industries increase the innovative capabilities of CAE simulation analysis and international competitiveness.
Dr. Chiu-Feng Lin, the President of MIRDC, pointed out that the MIRDC has used design analysis technology based on professional engineering to promote the introduction of simulation analysis into the product development stage of traditional manufacturing such as casting, stamping, extrusion, welding, injection and structural designs and analyses, so that the manufacturing process can be visualized and effectively increase the reliability of predictions, and analytical experts can be cultivated for the industries. As a result, this will help traditional industries solve two major problems which includes excessive investments on hardware and software for simulation analysis and a shortage of relevant human resources, which further equip makers with their own design capability and facilitate them to comply with international standard.
Started from 2016, MIRDC has taken the path of long-term development, and focused on the development trend of international manufacturing. With the support of Department of Industrial Technology, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, MIRDC has implemented the “Reform Traditional Industry-Innovation-Value Added Development Project”, and actively promoted innovation and added value to services provided by the traditional manufacturing industries in Taiwan. In 2017, by integrating cloud-based technologies and computing services for the purpose of establishing the “value-added platform for CAE cloud-based services”, MIRDC aims to assist traditional industries in achieving value-added tasks such as innovation, R&D and commercialization.
MIRDC intends to help Taiwanese makers to improve the manufacturing model of the traditional R&D processes and follow the development trend of cloud-based digitalization, so that an international-standard CAE cloud-based platform can be built and remotely operated. Therefore, it will not be necessary for makers to set up expensive hardware equipment and software by themselves; a service model that is instant, convenient, remotely operable and charge on an hourly basis will be offered to help industries to introduce simulation analysis technology for designs and cultivate professional experts, so that the manufacturing process can be visualized and predicted, effectively reducing the R&D cycles of new products, enhancing the cost-effectiveness of the new products and reaping the benefits of innovation. The alliance is expected to lead the trend of smart manufacturing in Taiwanese industry digitalization and help introduce innovative momentum to the industries, thereby leading the Taiwanese industries in the upgrading and transformation into a new territory.
