Grand Opening of the Taiwan Institute for Plumbing Innovation Aiming to Speed Up Industry Upgrading and Transformation

On May 9th, MIRDC and the Plumbing Association of Taiwan co-hosted the opening ceremony for the Taiwan Institute for Plumbing Innovation at Changhua’s Lukang with the expected goal of driving industry cluster sustainable development and illustrating the special culture of the plumbing industry. The VIPs attended the opening ceremony including Chen-Chung Deng, Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ming-Ji Wu, Director General from the Industrial Development Bureau, Lin Shu-Yuan, Deputy Director General from the Workforce Development Agency, and Legislator Wang Huei-Mei, to witness this historic moment in Taiwan’s outstanding and innovative plumbing history.
MIRDC have long collaborated with the Plumbing Association of Taiwan in the planning of this international-standard demonstration space. The Plumbing Association of Taiwan was able to display the capability of the plumbing industry by inviting international plumbing certification agencies, including American IAPMO R&T, Canadian CSA Group and over 50 domestic manufacturers to the opening of this Taiwan Institute for Plumbing Innovation.
Taiwan Institute for Plumbing Innovation will utilize MIRDC’s research capabilities in the plumbing industry to mobilize plumbing cluster, and to boost visibility of characteristic products from different makers (faucets, showerheads, copper parts, and related products) in different marketing ways, aiming to elevate industry's product values. The museum is divided into several sections including “History Corridor,” “Corporate Brand Image Area,” “Experience Area,” “Industry Plumbing Product Display Area,” “Plumbing Innovative R&D Area,” and “Plumbing Life Classroom and Experience Marketing and Promotion Area.” These exhibition areas not only display local industry and cultural characteristics, but also demonstrate the hard work and characteristic culture of Taiwan’s plumbing industry. The aim is to strengthen the integration ability of localized characteristic industries.
The museum integrates product display, experience, education, and tourism into an innovative service models, making the museum into a base for Taiwan’s development and marketing of intelligent sanitary ware. The event once again draws attention to the “Hometown of Faucets” with the aim to enhance the international competitiveness of Taiwan’s plumbing and to lead the upgrading and transformation of the traditional industry.
