The Industrial Development Bureau, MOEA commissioned MIRDC to implement the “Semiconductor Equipment and Components Industry Development Project”. As part of this project, the MIRDC organized the Taiwan-Russia Semiconductor Equipment and Component Technology Industry Collaboration Forum in Taipei in 2014. Therefore MIRDC is hosting the International Semiconductor Advanced Process Equipment Technology cum Business Forum during the SEMICON Taiwan Exhibition in 2015. Professional Lecturers from Russian, Japanese, and European companies and research organizations (including Physics Instrumentation Center/Russian Academy of Sciences, JSC MERI and MIKRON, Skolkovo Innovation Center, Suzuki, Elia, Disco, Okinawa Special Economic Zone, TNO, High Tech NL, and Bosch Rexroth) were invited to speak at the Russian, Japanese, and European auditorium separately during the International Semiconductor Advanced Process Equipment Technology Forum. These lectures focus on local semiconductor development, directions in international collaboration, and technology strategies.
In addition, one-on-one meetings were arranged during the International Semiconductor Advanced Process Equipment Technology Business Forum to promote network with international vendors (including Accretech, AT-VAC Ltd., DISCO, ELIA, JSC MERI and MIKRON, Eurointech Ltd., High Tech NL, Hokuriku Roka Co., Ltd., Okinawa Special Economic Zone, Physics Instrumentation Center/Russian Academy of Sciences, SUZUKI, TNO, Skolkovo Innovation Center, and Cellnetrix GmbH) and increase opportunities for mutual understanding and collaboration. In this forum Taiwan is represented by companies with international research and development scale such as TSMC, SPIL, Hermes-Epitek, GPM, MIC, Shuz Tung, Fiti Foxsemicon, Htc, Domino, Darfon, ProbeLeader, NPMT, Fair Friend Semiconductor, SuperPower, Grand Mountain Technology, A-Tech System, Evest Corporation, FairTech Corp, and Viva Electric. Many conducted commercial opportunity matching and technology network during the forum. MIRDC also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Russian Academy of Sciences/Laser Instrument Center to co-promote and co-develop optoelectronic semiconductors and medical application markets in both countries.
MIRDC’s Optoelectronic and Semiconductor Equipment Industry Promotion and Planning Office indicated that Taiwan and Russian optoelectronic and semiconductor equipment industries are highly complementary. In recent years MIRDC has actively sought out Russian technology contacts. In 2014 MIRDC showed good results to work with the Moscow State University Science Park for the first time. Referrals from the Moscow State University Science Park helped MIRDC to successfully conduct exchange with the Physics Instrumentation Center/Russian Academy of Sciences. This time the Russian laser expert, Dr. Sergey K. Vartapetov, director of the Russian Academy of Sciences/Laser Instrument Center and his team visited Taiwan and conducted network with Taiwan industry vendors. This initiates one of concrete collaborations.
