With the support of the Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT), Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Economic Development Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government, the MIRDC hosted the eighth MIRAI (Manufacturing Institute for Research on Advanced Initiatives) Conference on March 25th and 26th at the MIRDC auditorium. This conference had a rich content that included three lectures and publishing of 29 thesis papers. Nearly 120 domestic and international guests attended the conference, which provided the best platform for top international scholars and experts to conduct exchange and cultivate opportunities for mutual cooperation.
In his opening speech, Dr. Fu, Ho-Chung, the President of MIRDC, specially thanked DoIT for their long-term support that allowed MIRDC to establish the most comprehensive micro fabrication laboratory in Asia. MIRDC colleagues have also persistently advanced their technical knowhow and their development results in recent years. With their efforts, MIRDC have won recognition in the form of international awards (such as the American R&D100 and the German RED DOT). In the future, MIRDC will work hard towards international cooperative research and development.
In this conference, three internationally renowned micro/meso manufacturing experts delivered three lectures (including Prof. Omori from the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research at RIKEN, Dr. Min from UC Berkeley, and Prof. Fang, Feng-Zhou from Tianjin University) and shared the latest technologies and trends in the field. In addition, 29 thesis papers were published with contents ranging from various micro/meso machining & forming, and sustainable manufacturing, and these research results can provide valuable references. This MIRAI Conference is also an important step in leading Taiwan micro-fabrication technologies toward the international stage.
