On April 8th, MIRDC and Auto21 Co., Ltd jointly hosted the “Electrification of Light Electric Trucks” news conference. Under the witness of DOIT (Ministry of Economic Affairs) the President of MIRDC, Dr. Fu, Ho-Chung, and the chairman of Auto21, Mr. Hsu, Sheng-Fa, signed a five-year letter of intent of technology transfer. This is an important step in the internationalization of Taiwan’s electric vehicle industry.
To improve the development of domestic electric vehicle industry and actively assist the industry in building an environment suitable for intelligent electric vehicle development, the DOIT integrated a certification platform and developed system module and key technologies for independent commercial electric vehicles. With the support of DOIT, MIRDC is committed to the development of light weight and open chassis for electric vehicles. The cooperation with Auto 21 successfully applies the space frame design and module integration technology of open chassis to combine Taiwan electric key module makers to jointly participate in the development that shortens 1/2 development time of light electric truck. New electric truck is possessed of maximum 65kW motor, is able to achieve 27% of gradeability and maximum speed is 100kph. Additionally, new electric truck is equipped with lithium battery pack with 18kWh/25kWh to achieve the mileage of 100/150 kilometer.
With the assistance of MIRDC, Auto 21 has completed the development of the first light electric truck. Reliance on the development experiences of commercial vehicles for many years, Auto 21 combines the close relation advantage with international niche auto makers. Auto 21 expects the cooperation with MIRDC to grab the special car model market of electric medium bus, electric large bus and truck in South East Asia. MIRDC and Auto 21 have reached the consensus and aim to speed up the development of niche EV key technologies, meanwhile both parties agree to enter the cooperation under basis of reciprocity. The cooperative items include the system integration technology of niche type EV, layout structural design of key module, chassis structure lightweight design and personnel cultivation & exchange. In the future, the close cooperative relationship will continue to assist the formation of Taiwan intelligent EV industry, will lead Taiwan EV industry launch into international market and will keep pace with the development trend of global intelligent EV.
