To robust the domestic semiconductor equipment industry, Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs entrusts the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) to implement the "Semiconductor Equipment and Components Industry Development Plan" to combine Taiwan's semiconductor manufacturing technology and the R&D capabilities from MIRDC, and further bring the outcome to the world.
Organized by MIRDC and the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association, and assisted by Taipei Economic and Culture Representative Office in Russia, the "Russian Industrial Electronics Technology Trade Delegation" was formed by 28 manufactures from Taiwan semiconductor industry, total of 43 people, to head for Russia to participate in the “2014 EXPO ELECTRONICA” from April 12th to 20th, and held the "Taipei - Moscow Electronic Semiconductor Industry and Technology Interchange" at Moscow University Science Park. Vice-Chancellor of Moscow University, Mr. Khokhlov attended to send his greetings, and many Russian companies also attended to discuss cooperation possibilities. The venue atmosphere was very lively. In addition to companies around Moscow University Campus, Science and Technology Incubation Center of Bauman University and well-known companies such as Skolkovo and Ostec from Russia also participated in the event. Moreover, MIRDC and Moscow University Science Park also signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), hoping to use this co-operation platform to furthermore promote the exchange and development of Taiwan and Russia optoelectronics and semiconductor technology, economic and trade sectors.
Moscow University Science Park was founded in 1992 by Moscow University, which has over 250 years history. The purpose of this science park is to develop the Netcom, Telecom, IT and other high-tech industry development of the Moscow region. There are 140 companies in the region, which includes five of the top 50 technology companies in Russia. The science park is creating an annual production value of NT $ 6 billion. In 2009, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev enacted federal statutes that parallelized the Moscow University and the Federal Ministry of Education. This allows the Moscow University to have more than half of the advanced research resources, which can be used independently in practical use for industry. After the signing of MOU with MIRDC, Taiwan and Russian industrial units and organizations will have more opportunities for mutual visits, organizing of exhibition and symposiums. More cooperation opportunities between Taiwan and Russian semiconductor and components industries are expected.
