MIRDC Announces Success with 2.4-Ton Electrical Truck

MIRDC, supported by the MOEA Industrial Development Bureau, began in 2013 to work on developing a 2.4-Ton full electrical vehicle in partnership with Tatung, NKL Gears, Dar Don Vehicles, Ko’s Automobile and Chroma. Currently, this vehicle features DC 320V Lithium-iron battery set and has an expected 75-km cruise range (unloaded). Its battery set is designed with an adjustable capacity that enables switching between charging and discharging modes, and the vehicle is powered by liquid-cooled AC motor with a 35kW rated output and 80kW at peak. This vehicle employs automated manual transmission, which enjoys a 15% efficiency gain against a shiftless design, and its battery has a longer service life enabled by an effectively lower start current. The fact that this vehicle has been jointly developed by Taiwan companies provides confidence in product guaranty and maintenance and subsequent performance improvements. Currently this vehicle is undergoing durability test and its multi-staged shift and CTV transmission versions can be expected in the future.
