Since 2009, Department of Industrial Technology of the Ministry of Economic Affairs instructed Metal Industries Research and Development Centre (MIRDC) to promote the establishment of the Locks Association of Taiwan (LAT). In 2012, the Lock Association Taiwan (LAT) has elected its 2nd term board members. After accumulating considerable achievement for the last three years, LAT is now ready for international cooperation with ASSA ABLOY and MIWA for the purpose of upgrading the technical capability of lock industry.

In the aspect of talents cultivation, LAT also promotes locksmith certificate training course and carries out three training program at Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung respectively. In total, 84 locksmiths obtain the professional certificate. Training program intends to facilitate consumers receive excellent locksmith service to further protect personal and property.

The LAT has built a CIS system to improve the marketing and channel images to offer a better service impression. To level-up and standardize the local products to international standard is another effort to create better connection to overseas market. Meantime, LAT continuously interacts with overseas lock associations such as the US, Japan and Hong Kong to realize the goal of international OEM, joint development and marketing system cooperation.

New board of directors was elected on May 6, 2012 and new team will develop toward diversification. LAT intends to promote locksmith certificate to be recognized by system is also a key program by LAT to improve service quality. A national credit is a long-term strategy the new board will keep. With the board members’ efforts, the following tasks LAT about to work on includes: establishment of quality licensing lab., promotion of localized lock-product standard in Asia, certification label of high quality lock etc. LAT aims on a complete new look of the industry to broaden the market-share and influence internationally.
