Turnkey and Project Export—A New Business Focus for Taiwan

Under the competitive pressure of low-labor-cost Southeast Asian countries and China as well as similar export type countries like Korea and Japan, the Taiwan government proactively locates the niche of industrial transformation and increases industrial value by developing intelligent automation production technology. The recent business focus aims at turnkey and project export.

To promote the growth of turnkey and project export for intelligent automation industry is one of the target business models of Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), MOEA (Ministry of Economic Affairs ) in recent years. MIRDC (Metal Industries Research and Development Centre), entrusted by IDB, has continuously organized international forums to share global industrial trends and technical applications in automation related fields. American industrial research corporation Frost & Sullivan and German leading maker of steel processing equipment SMS Siemag AG and other domestic turnkey exporting companies gathered to share current technology know-how and marketing experience in the latest forum in October, 2012.

Mr. Chorng-Tyan Lin, Deputy Director of Energy and Agile System Department of MIRDC indicated that “the design of automation production line and integrated exporting technology and service becomes a new business model and will form a core industrial competitiveness by conducting the key technology, material, equipment and service platform.” The above-mentioned is also the main target for Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) to set up “Committee for Turnkey and Project Industry Development, MOEA” in 2012.
