The Centre carries out research and development and provides an array of services for technology transfer to the industrial community.

MIRD assisted in forming 2 Industry R&D alliances to promote industry clustering and technology upgrade of metal finishing and cold and frozen meat producers

To assist traditional industries in technology upgrade and innovation, MOEA Department of Industrial Technologies has commissioned MIRDC to implement the Value-added and Transformation of Traditional Industries Project that aims to promote the creation of R&D industrial cluster. Based on results of industry survey and technology verification, on April 27, the Metal Finishing Industry R&D Alliance and Cold and Frozen Meat Industry R&D Alliance were established in Managing Technology Co. in Taichung and National Pingtung University of Science and Technology in Pingtung respectively. MIRDC is expected to leverage its technology capacity to guide industries concerned towards developing key technologies and to assist existing industry clusters in technology upgrade or in creating new clusters.
