After Dr. Chi-ming Yin (was Minister without Portfolio then) led a delegation of Taiwan aviation makers to visit Japan in October 2011, 18 major aerospace manufacturers from Japan Aerospace Industries Association (SJAC), accompanied by the officials of Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry visited Taiwan in March, 2012. It is a largest foreign-visiting event over the years. The visiting also confirms the cooperation between Taiwan and Japan in the near future and moves towards a new aviation plan for supply chain cooperation of aero structures and engine manufacturing, own brand of developing and marketing cooperation for aviation interior and avionics, air composites cooperative development and international cooperation for new aviation project. The potential business value estimates to be more than NT $ 10 billion.
Mr. Chi-chuan Huang, Chairman of the Metal Industries Research and Development Centre (MIRDC) pointed out that the aviation industry relative technology, featured with high quality and high system integration. It is always our government key industry. In particular, Taiwan is carrying out the work of industrial upgrading, so it is very important to cooperate and exchange with the Japanese aerospace industry.
The visiting representative of Japan impressed by capabilities of Taiwan makers in terms of technology, supply chain management, quality system, etc. These are quite consistent with the technical requirements for Japanese firms that are looking for international cooperation. Dr. Chi-ming Yin, Minister of Council for Economic Planning and Development, also expresses his gratitude toward the return visit from Japan and is looking forward to have further cooperating links between Taiwan and Japan in the near future.
