Summit Forum on Opportunities for Developing Next-generation Monitors and Solar Cell Facilities Industry - -
Commissioned by MOEA Bureau of Industry and jointly organized by MIRDC, Southern Taiwan Science Park Administration and Photonic and Semiconductor Facilities Localization Office, this forum was held at NTU International Convention Center. With trends in key technology applications as the main theme and market analysis as the secondary topic, experts from the government, the academia and the industry were invited to participate in a dialogue that aims to brainstorm for the future direction and emerging opportunities for the photonic industry so as to serve as a reference for policy formulation and industrial investments that will help sustain Taiwan’s strategic presence in the global photonic industry.

Presentation of Innovations and Incubations under MIRDC Technology Development Program - -
Held at MIRDC and with guidance and support from DOIT, the presentation featured applications in the fields of photonics/3C, mechanical automation, and automobiles. Laboratories with representative features were also open to the 2000-plus attendants to showcase the facilities used for such R&D endeavors in an event that incorporated technology trade to benefit domestic companies with technology transfer.

Launch of Taiwan Lock Industry Development Association - -
Since 2007, the Lock Industry High-value Application R&D Consortium has been formed under the Southern Taiwan Alliance of Researchers and Scholars (STARS), a DOIT-sponsored project. To stimulate the development of domestic lock industry, 75 local lock makers joined hands with MIRDC to found the Taiwan Lock Industry Development Association, with Real Locks & Security Chairman being elected as the founding chairman.

Launch of Electrical Vehicle (EV) R&D League and Seminar on EV Key Modules - -
Commissioned by MOEA Department of Industrial Technology (DOIT), both events were organized by Taiwan Automotive Research Consortium (TARC) at NTUH International Conference Center, and the founding ceremony was witnessed by MIRDC Chairman, TARC President and distinguished guests from the industry, the academic and the government.

Launch of MOEA Innovation for Prosperity Project - -
MOEA leveraged the research capacity of 18 R&D agencies, including Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Chung-Shan Institute of Science & Technology (CSIST) and MIRDC, to form a talent pool of 5,500-plus technical experts that are divided into 12 consulting teams by field of expertise for upgrading industrial technologies. The project was officially launched at TICC on April 4. MIRDC CEO led the Metal Industries Group, formed by R&D personnel from MIRDC, ITRI Mechanical Engineering and System Research Laboratory and CSIST , to offer consulting services to 700 companies in 2009, contributing to the creation of 61 cases of innovation and R&D alliances.
