The LED Exposure Processing Equipment Alliance was officially launched with its seven members of MIRDC, M&R Nano Technology, A&F, Cello Technology, National Instruments, Cognex and Yongyou Applied Technology, to develop localized key equipment for LED Exposure Processing. To improve competitiveness of the water hardware industry, MIRDC implemented a Technology Development Program entitled, ”Water Hardwar Industrial Cluster Construction Project” in 2011 by expanding capabilities of testing toiletry valves to include NSF-61, ASSE 1019 and ASME A112.18.3. This lab is the only one in Taiwan with such testing capacity and serves to enhance the industry’s competitiveness by expediting product certification process while reducing testing costs. |

MOEA Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection announced MIRDC as an authorized laboratory for required testing of plastic erasers, covering testing items like plasticizer and heavy metal concentration, to safeguard safety in such products for school children. |

In the wake of the outbreak of unworthy companies using plasticizer instead of clouding agent as addictive in food and beverage, MIRDC was among the first batch of labs authorized by the governing agency for concerned testing as biotech and food suppliers in southern Taiwan swarmed to submit their products for testing in response to this DEHP incident. MIRDC Inspection and Test Section, with its engineers from the Ultra Trace Laboratory supported by their colleagues, spared no efforts in helping companies get their test reports within shortest-possible turnaround time to verify the safety status of concerned products. |

On 26 April, MIRDC’s Ultra Trace Laboratory was accredited by the Department of Health as a food hygiene laboratory authorized to perform 6 types of tests that include Chloromycetin, animal drug-multiple residual analysis and Tetracycline Looking into the future, this lab aims to expand its services into testing food containers, animal drugs, heavy metals in Chinese herbal medicine, illegal use of western medical ingredients in Chinese herbal medicine, and cosmetics. |

MIRDC was tasked by Department of Industrial Technologies of MOEA to organize the Taiwan Excellence Hall at IDS-2011 in Cologne, Germany on 22-26 March. Led by MIRDC Chairman, the Taiwan delegation brought together 12 domestic companies and the MIRDC’s Medical Device R&D team to stage a grand exhibition that showcased the integrative prowess of Taiwan’s dental industry in international marketing. |
