MIRDC, with two golds and two silvers, is Taiwan’s biggest winner at Concours Lepine innovation show
Concours Lepine in Paris, combined with Paris Fair in 2013, has attracted over one million visits from around the world, making it a great platform for gaining exposure and publicity for Taiwan’s innovative products. Both of MIRDC’s gold medalists bring significant efficiency gains for clinical medical practice. The “Positioning device, image overlapping method and image projection system”improves precision overlapping of images generated by CATSCAN and MRI respectively, and this enhanced tagging method enables augmented reality as an assistive function for surgery while meeting today’s surgical requirement for information based on both CT and MRI data.
The other gold medalist, namely ”Thermotherapeutic needle with issue injection and cooling functions,”is the only one of its kind innovation as a new medical device for electromagnetic thermotherapy, with a wide range of applications to be expected in electrocision of polyp and benign and malign tumors as well as of lesions in thyroid gland and prostrate gland, thanks to its smaller diameter needle. This innovation features one needle with multiple functions of suction/injection (for dosing, sterilizing and anaesthesizing), thermal cautery and circulated cooling, thereby enhancing significantly its applicability and expediency in clinical conditions by reducing the number of needle insertions required.
