On July 11, 2018, the R&D achievement of MIRDC's electron beam manufacturing technology development program was transferred to Pao Nan Biotech Co., Ltd. through technolog licensing. In addition, the R&D achievement, using additive manufacturing technology, obtained the first class 2 long-term spinal implant permit from the Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. |

MIRDC’s “Optical 3D Foot Arch and Pressure Measurement Device” won the 2018 Innovative Service of Edison Awards in New York on New York time of April 11, 2018. The first complex “Optical 3D Foot Arch and Pressure Measurement Device” in Taiwan uses image analysis to transform the pressure, replacing the current used piezoelectricity measurement. Nearly 2/3 of the equipment cost has been reduced, successfully complementing the technical insufficiency of the customized service of shoe industry and creating an innovative operational service mode. |

The all-direction automated guided vehicle (AGV), developed by MIRDC, won 2018 iF product design award. In March 2018, Mr. Kuang-hsuan, engineer of Vehicle Structure & System Section, Metal Processing R&D Department, represented Taiwan and MIRDC to receive the award in Germany. AGV will be applied in aerospace, automotive, robot, machine tool industries, inspection of industrial facilities, search & rescue, police & military application, science research, collaborative transporting and logistics of heavy load objects. AGV is able to correspond to different requirements for customized application. |

Ministry of Economic Affairs is determined to re-shape the autonomy of Taiwan-made products, and to create high values and sustain traditional industries as its objective, assists the traditional industries in the development of high value products, further expands the links and applies the industrial, academic and research capabilities, MOEA established and formally installed "Innovation Value-added Center of Traditional Industry, MOEA" (located at No. 55, Tsao-jen Road, Nantze District, Kaohsiung) on March 20, 2018. Being witnessed by Dr. Ming-hsin Kuang, Deputy Minister of MOEA, Dr. Ren-yi Lin, Chairman of MIRDC, Mr. Wen-sheng Tseng, Director-general, Economic Development Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government and the other honorable guests from the related industrial, academic, research sectors jointly held the opening ceremony. The Center will adopt four strategies, namely "to add value to materials", "to add value to process", "to add value to products" and "to add value to foundations laying" to use innovative development and to add value for industry as methods, with hope of assisting traditional industries upgrade and introduce key technologies as well as transforming traditional industries to promote their value-added. |
