MIRDC and Hocheng Corporation Sign Memorandum of Understanding

The Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) has teamed up with well-known domestic bathroom appliance brand Hocheng Corporation to help promote the diverse development of Taiwan's kitchen and bathroom appliance industries. Ren-Yi Lin, chairman of MIRDC and Shi-Jie Chen, general manager of Hocheng Corporation met at the Centre on December 23, 2021, to formally sign a memorandum of understanding. In the future they will establish an alliance targeting market demand, aiming to accelerate product development of bathroom appliances, improve smart energy saving efficiency, and increase international market share of domestic bathroom products. Together, they hope to stimulate the development and prosperity of the domestic bathroom fixture industry.

Taiwanese public demand for comfortable bathroom fixtures is growing steadily. In recent years, an increasing trend has been especially apparent with electronic toilets. With this in mind, in 2018 the MIRDC Home Appliance and Multi-intelligence Laboratories (Homi) and Taiwan Plumbing Research and Testing Laboratories (TPL) set up testing capabilities to respond to government policies protecting consumer safety. This was the first notarized laboratory in the country to establish electrical safety testing capability for electric toilets and to obtain testing qualifications for it. The MIRDC will strengthen assistance to the Hocheng Corporation by leveraging its smart development technologies, safe and environmentally friendly materials research, and quality testing and certification technologies. Not only will this help develop safer and more innovative high-end bathroom fixture products, but will also ensure the healthy lives of the Taiwanese.

As Ren-Yi Lin, chairman of MIRDC explains, this is the Centre's second alliance with the Hocheng Corporation. Facing rapid changes in the global industry environment and the impact brought on by the pandemic, we hope to improve and accelerate development of the domestic bathroom fixture industry while also ensuring the healthy lives of the Taiwanese. High-end bathroom fixture products are undoubtedly the future of international development trends. Use of innovative materials can overcome bottlenecks in upmarket technology research and ensure a safer and more comfortable user experience. By integrating advantages in smart technologies, safe and environmentally friendly materials research, and quality testing and certificaton technologies, the MIRDC will help the Hocheng Corporation refine and improve research of automated equipment and development of high-end bathroom fixture products. By doing so, we hope to bring the reputation to Taiwan's boutique bathroom brands.
