2022 06 MIRDC, CPC, and TASA signed an MOU to promote the development of national critical composite material design technology and cultivate the upgrade of the domestic low-orbit satellite industry to enhance the international competitive advantage of Taiwan's space technology industry. Through strategic cooperation, the three parties will combine their core technologies, resources, and facilities to jointly achieve the domestication of Taiwan's autonomous space technology energy and the production of space-grade composite material component design and manufacturing technology.
2022 05 MIRDC signed a memorandum of cooperation with TIRI to jointly promote the technological development and industrial upgrading of the medical equipment industry and product testing and verification in Taiwan, leveraging both parties' core technologies, resources, and facilities. This is aimed at strengthening the international competitiveness of the relevant industries and serves as the basis for expressing the willingness to cooperate between the two parties.
2022 05 The Combination Medical Device Technology Section of MIRDC's Medical Devices R&D Service Department has been awarded the Silver prize in the 2022 New York Product Design Awards for its "Materials for Bone Defect Repair" product was recognized for its innovative design and superior functionality.
2022 04 MIRDC was recommended by the international certification company DNV to perform non-destructive testing on Hitachi's offshore wind turbines. After confirming that its personnel possessed the necessary qualifications for testing and offshore work (non-destructive testing certification and GWO basic safety training), MIRDC quickly organized a testing team, coordinated with Hitachi and TPC, and established logistical support. The team conducted non-destructive testing of wind turbine components at the TPC’s offshore wind farm twice around the Lunar New Year period, successfully completing Hitachi's requirements. The testing report issued by MIRDC was accepted by Hitachi for adjustment and maintenance, marking the first offshore wind power non-destructive testing industrial service case performed by a Taiwanese testing and verification team.
2022 04 With the support from the Technology Development Programs of DoIT, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) continues its research and development of the technology for the material “forgeable lead-free dezincified resistant brass”, which links up with the world. It once again acquires the grade of UNS/CDA C85690, with its material quality obtaining international certification. This helps Taiwan’s plumbing industry to secure its place in the international market supply chain.
2022 04 MIRDC's Renewable Polymorphic Transition (Poly-T) Materials have won a Silver award at the 2022 Edison Awards. These materials are made from a mixture of marble waste and wasted oyster shells and are used in a 3D printing process to construct imitation coral. The bones' impact strength can increase the growth rate of algae and corals, making the materials ideal for use as coral breeding bases, landscaping materials, artificial corals, and island reefs for restoration.
2022 04 MIRDC and Ceta Explorers Co., Ltd. have partnered to combine MIRDC's unmanned aerial vehicle research and development capabilities with Ceta Explorers' expertise in marine ecological surveys. The two organizations will work together in related fields and engage in cooperative exchanges.
2022 04 MIRDC, SUMEEKO Industries Co., Ltd., and Wu Jii Industry Co., Ltd. signed an MOU to provide cooperation in greenhouse gas inventory and energy-saving and carbon reduction guidance, enhance the green competitiveness of Taiwan's metal-related industries, and share resources among the three parties.
2022 03 MIRDC has assisted FUSHENG in establishing the technology for casting components of the titanium alloy support structure for PAC-3 MSE and provided training in casting large titanium castings, enabling them to achieve the required process capability and quality level of international suppliers. As a result, they have become the first domestic precision casting plant capable of producing aerospace and military-grade large titanium alloys.
2022 03 MIRDC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MAX SEAIR to combine their research and development capabilities in unmanned underwater vehicles (ROV) and unmanned aerial vehicles. Together, they will create services and conduct research in offshore wind power detection, operation, and maintenance to meet the increasing demand.
