To help industry develop niche and high value-added digital dentistry differential products, the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs planned “Thematic R&D - the complete counseling program of digital dentistry,” which entrusted MIRDC to host “The wrap-up presentation-the complete counseling program of digital dentistry, 2020” at the booth M501, 4F, Hall 1, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center on December 3rd, 2020, showcasing the finished products while sharing experience. The wrap-up presentation encouraged the industry to devote time and effort to developing the indigenous technology and systematic cooperation. It also supported industries to participate in overseas markets by gaining key technologies or developing innovative value-added services, thus increasing the overall output value. There were over 100 participants in the presentation, thus showing the demand and trend of digitalization.
There were many domestic medical device manufacturers in the wrap-up presentation. The new high-speed intra-oral scanning system, a product by the cooperation with Qisda, allows the clinicians to retrieve the 3-D and color images of teeth, gums, mucosa, and other oral tissues. Hung Chun Bio-S Tech develops the technologies of precise dental implants and special devices, the company has provided the complete solutions of dental implants before, during, and after surgeries. The integration of MEGAFORCE’s intra-oral scanning system and Chang Hsin Biotech’s production line of intra-oral scanning device not only is certified by TFDA and ISO-13485, also is the first intra-oral scanning product launched in Taiwan. The integration of MEM Dental Technology manufacturing the composite orthodontic systems and Thoshin Tech specializing in manufacturing 3-D printer for customized transparent braces gives patients a new option of aesthetic correction. Alliance Global Technology based on its technologies of dental implant, surgical devices, and dental surgical guides establishes an integrated cooperative marketing system for Taiwan’s digital dentistry. The “e-dentaltw platform” developed by Dentaltw integrates the exposures of global dental information, thus accelerating the timelines of Taiwan’s medical devices in dentistry.
Dr. Chih-Lung Lin, the vice president of MIRDC, indicated that the trend of digital dentistry is inevitable from the overall perspective of global development. Nevertheless, dentists are unwilling to use new products without the confirmation of plentiful clinical evidence. The supports and resources from the government are needed to have the digital dentistry prepared with the critical technologies. The post-pandemic trend will integrate industrial strengths from biomedicine, information communication, machinery manufacturing, to start innovative business opportunities in zero contact, unmanned, and digital medical care. Taiwan’s medical device manufacturers should seize the opportunity to increase the influence of Taiwan corporations on the global supply chain. This exhibition aims at making people know the efforts made by the government in supporting the dental industry and product development, which represent the key competitiveness making Taiwan the best in the world.
