On December 23, to broaden its certification services and to assist domestic home appliance businesses to obtain export certification, the Metal Industries Research and Development Center (MIRDC) partnered with the Japan Quality Assurance Organization (JQA). MIRDC’s Vice President Ching-Ming Chen and JQA’s Executive Officer for Product Safety Shigeyuki Kondo signed the "Individual Agreement of Electric & Electronic Product Safety Certification and JIS Certification Collaboration," hoping to take advantage of the close partnership in certification operations to develop the international market and establish mutual cooperation and exchanges in the fields of home appliance product testing and certification services, test equipment, laboratory management, technical consultation, and personnel training.
Certification, Vice President of MIRDC, pointed out that the signing of this Taiwan-Japan certification service agreement achieved two important breakthroughs. One is that the MIRDC has established itself as the premier consultation service agency for Taiwan's businesses, and it now assists Taiwan enterprises with applications and related procedures. The other is the strengthening of information exchange about related electrical product safety laws. In the future, the MIRDC plans to organize relevant educational training and seminars. Both Taiwan and Japan will continue to strengthen their exchanges in the field of electric& electronic product safety certification and JIS certification.
In recent years, the MIRDC has committed itself to join international certification services and is proactively facilitating export expansion for Taiwanese businesses. It is hoped that with the signing of this Taiwan-Japan agreement in certification services, the MIRDC can successfully provide a better quality services for home appliance businesses in Taiwan and Japan, to effectively capture their niche markets, expand to Asia-Pacific markets, and become a new model of the industry.
