MIRDC and National Formosa University is Working Together in Smart Manufacturing

Focusing on Talent Cultivation and Academic Collaboration
In response to the government’s smart manufacturing policy, and to integrate MIRDC’s development capability with National Formosa University’s academic research, the MIRDC and NFU signed a strategic alliance agreement on December 22. MIRDC president, Chiu-Feng Lin and the president of the National Formosa University, Wen-Yuh Jwe, participated in the signing. Both parties will collaborate on planning academic research topics, and will mutually invest resources and knowledge to drive industry talent cultivation and related items. Smart manufacturing implementation and electromechanical integration will bring the benefit of smart manufacturing and drive development of Taiwan’s advanced manufacturing technology.

MIRDC president, Chiu-Feng Lin stated that this mutual collaboration will be focused on creating smart mechanical ecosystems and smart machines, as well as on combining virtual and real integration with mechanical equipment. This is in cooperation with the government’s smart machine and intelligence related topics and policies. The experiences of research foundations in industry application and the school’s core technology development advantage can be used to drive Taiwan’s industry transformation and upgrading, thereby, improving the industry’s competitiveness.
In recent years, MIRDC has invested in innovative technology research and development and drove creation of industry development alliances and clusters. Introduction of innovative operating models has produced significant results. We believe that this mutual collaboration will combine the strength of the academic field and with that of the foundation, and drive this strength towards development of innovative technology and establishment of industry ecology. NFU has had close long-term links to machinery industry in the central Taiwan. Thus, this strategic alliance will be able to drive smart manufacturing application in the industry to create synergy for both parties. The establishment of this platform is expected to promote Taiwan’s industry transformation and upgrading by linking talents and local resources.
